The Planet Crafter gives you freedom, which is nice until you build in a basin, run out of oxygen, and realize the good loot had a second use.
This starter guide keeps the early planet less painful: carry an oxygen room kit, build above the flood, break gold chests after looting, and put golden seeds where they actually matter.

Carry Oxygen Like A Plan
Long trips are safer when you bring the refill station with you.
Carry An Oxygen Room
Keep 3 iron, 2 titanium and 1 silicon on you. Drop a tiny room with a door, refill oxygen, then break it down and keep moving.
Build Above The Flood
That low starter basin does not stay dry forever. Put your real base higher up unless you enjoy moving every chest later.

Build Above Tomorrow's Problem
That dry basin has plans.
Break Gold Chests Too
After you loot a gold chest, deconstruct it. The extra aluminum and super alloy are worth grabbing early.
Use Golden Seeds Smart
Golden seeds give a huge oxygen boost. Put them in your best oxygen setup, not some weak tube you forgot in the corner.

Take The Extra Value
Gold chests are loot and materials.
Open The Hidden Starter Door
There is a hidden wall near the starting area that needs the deconstruction tool. Open it early for seeds, fabric, quartz and blueprint chips.
Upgrade Before Wreck Runs
Deep wrecks are way easier with more oxygen and bag space. Get the tank and backpack upgrades before you try to strip a whole ship.

Use Rare Boosts Where They Matter
Golden seeds deserve your best oxygen setup.
Stand Still In Meteors
Meteors follow fixed paths around where you were standing. Running around can put you into the hit zone, so get inside or stop moving.
Launch Rockets Early
Rockets give permanent global boosts and call down useful ore storms. The sooner you start launching them, the faster the planet wakes up.
The Short Version
Carry an oxygen room kit, move the real base above the flood line, deconstruct gold chests, and spend rare seeds where they push terraforming hardest.
