Blizzard did not save the big names for later

BlizzCon 2026 was not a quiet roadmap show. The opening ceremony stacked announcements across StarCraft, Diablo, Warcraft, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and Heroes of the Storm, with enough dates and long-range teases to make Blizzard's next few years look unusually crowded.

The headline is StarCraft's return. Xbox Wire says the series comes back in 2030 as an original open-world shooter, which is exactly the kind of sentence that will make strategy purists nervous and everyone else curious.

Diablo is looking further out, but Diablo IV gets the immediate hit

Diablo V is now real, but it is not close. Blizzard is aiming at Spring 2029 and framing the game around Sanctuary after it has already fallen. That is a strong hook, even if it is years away.

The nearer Diablo news is Diablo IV's Season of Hell's Legacy, which launches September 15 to mark 30 years of the series. Prime Evils, Deckard Cain, Nightmare Rifts, anniversary rewards, and legacy gear make it sound like a nostalgia-heavy season with actual systems attached.

Warcraft had the cleanest dates

World of Warcraft: Forever launches November 4, 2026, with beta starting September 17. It is pitched as a third way to play alongside Modern and Classic, set in the Vanilla era but adding three zones, 1,000-plus quests, nine dungeons, two raids, and the Skyborne race.

The strangest and maybe coolest Warcraft surprise is a new Warcraft III: Reforged campaign, The Forsaken Kingdom, shipping with a 3.0 update and a graphics overhaul. For a game that felt frozen in amber for years, that is the kind of announcement people remember.

Game Pelt read

The big question is not whether Blizzard can create noise. It clearly can. The question is whether all of these projects can arrive with enough focus. StarCraft as an open-world shooter is either a bold evolution or a brand detour. Diablo V has a killer premise but a long runway. WoW Forever is the one with the clearest near-term shape.
