Garry's Mod now has an optional 64-bit Windows build. Facepunch included the client, server and tools in the September 2026 update, alongside spawnmenu changes, Insurgency mounting and fixes for NPCs, saves and Lua behavior.

64-bit is optional

Players can choose the 64-bit branch from the launch options rather than replacing the default build for everyone. The immediate benefit is access to more memory for large addon collections and demanding maps. Old binary modules may still require updates, so heavily modified installations should test the branch before making it permanent.

The spawnmenu is easier to organize

The update adds spawnmenu subcategories and improves the player-model selector. It also mounts the standalone 2014 release of Insurgency, allowing owned content to be used without manual extraction.

A follow-up hotfix restored Lua override behavior and corrected Linux addon filenames. Players running servers should update the server and client together before diagnosing an addon as broken.
