Clearing a defense wave quickly will leave much less breathing room in Helldivers 2 patch 7.1.0. Arrowhead's September 22 patch notes cut the maximum delay after a cleared wave from ten seconds to two. The update also changes how enemies are distributed around squad members who split up.

Defense waves arrive sooner

Evacuate High-Value Assets gets more possible waves and higher enemy counts per wave. The opening interval falls from 60 seconds to 42; later in the mission, it falls from 40 seconds to 28. Arrowhead intends the mission to become harder, particularly for three- and four-player squads.

Generators now show their health percentage in the objective display and their state on the minimap. Use that information to see which objective needs help, and plan reloads and resupply before a wave ends. Clearing the last enemy is no longer followed by the same maximum pause.

Separated players get different spawn pressure

The game now measures nearby enemy numbers and distance for each Helldiver. When the global enemy cap is reached, new spawns prioritize players under less pressure. Enemies far from players can be removed when the count exceeds its budget.

The stated aim is fewer empty outposts and more even opposition when a squad spreads across the map. It does not establish that every mission becomes harder or that every outpost will be occupied. The practical effect still needs testing in the updated game.

More launcher ammo, with caution around bug fixes

The AR/GL-21 One-Two gets more ammunition for its underbarrel grenade launcher. Arrowhead also reports fixing a rare network-related problem that prevented a dead player from being reinforced, even after a recall attempt or a full squad death.

Some other repair claims remain unclear. Arrowhead's known-issues page still lists excessive Trident recoil and enemies attacking unmanned vehicles, although 7.1.0 says it addresses both. Both support pages display a September 22 update. We cannot confirm from those documents alone that these two problems are resolved.

The announcement gives no separate deployment times for PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S. Check for version 7.1.0 on your platform before expecting the changes. For your next Evacuate High-Value Assets run, prepare supplies and defenses for shorter gaps between attacks.
