Hellish Quart pre-alpha update 2026.09.20 is a small combat repair rather than a content drop. Its most useful change is an inverse-kinematics adjustment for Yendrek's Axe Pull, which Kubold says should make the move more reliable.

The patch also stabilizes Yendrek's axe collisions. The developer describes the remaining problem as a consequence of difficult physics collision situations, so this is an improvement rather than a promise that every contact issue has disappeared.

Guards Should Start At The Correct Time

Leg guards could previously fail to begin immediately after an attack. That timing bug is fixed in this build. Body-part colliders were also adjusted to fit character silhouettes more closely, which should reduce hits that look disconnected from the weapon model.

Maryna's Back + X attack has been repaired, while Barabasz's B attack is slightly slower. The notes do not include numerical frame data, damage changes or a broader balance pass.

What Players Should Expect

The update is already available on PC through Steam. Players who use Yendrek should notice the clearest difference, but every matchup can benefit from the guard and collider fixes.

Hellish Quart remains in Early Access, and the build is explicitly labelled pre-alpha. Treat these changes as targeted iteration on the melee simulation, not a finished combat overhaul. If an axe collision still produces severe jitter after updating, record the fighter, move and contact angle before reporting it; that is more useful than a general complaint that the physics failed.
