You can prepare for MapleStory Classic World now, but the download works differently on each launcher. Nexon Launcher offers Classic World as a smaller standalone client. Steam bundles it with regular MapleStory, so Steam players should install and update the full game before launch.

Grand Launch is scheduled for October 21, 2026 at about 11:00 AM PDT / 2:00 PM EDT / 6:00 PM UTC, after a five-hour maintenance. That is 1:00 AM on October 22 in Bangkok. Nexon describes the end time as an estimate, so allow for a delay before reinstalling anything or blaming your account.

Pick the launcher that suits your storage

Use Nexon Launcher if you only want Classic World and would rather avoid downloading the modern game. Nexon says its launcher can install Classic World as a separate, smaller client.

Steam treats MapleStory and MapleStory Classic World as one build. You need the regular MapleStory installation even if Classic is the only version you plan to play. The upside is that installing and updating it now should leave you with a much smaller launch-day patch.

Do not install both unless you have a reason to switch between them. Whichever route you choose, use the Nexon account you actually want attached to your characters.

Get Nexon Launcher ready

Install the official Nexon Launcher, sign in and verify the email address on your Nexon account. Open MapleStory in the launcher and look for the selector near the bottom of the game page. It lets you switch between MapleStory and Classic World.

Choose Classic World, then use the download button for its standalone client. Nexon's September instructions said this option would only appear once Founder’s Access opened, so an old screenshot showing no Classic tab does not mean your launcher is incompatible.

Before launch, open the launcher once and let it finish any updates. On October 21, restart it after maintenance so it checks for the Grand Launch build.

Prepare the Steam version

Open MapleStory in your Steam library and install the full game. Let the download finish, then check for pending updates before Grand Launch. Steam cannot install Classic World as a separate lightweight client because both versions are packaged together.

Classic World appears inside the MapleStory client. After launching from Steam, choose Classic World on the experience selection screen rather than entering regular MapleStory.

Steam also needs a linked Nexon account. Nexon recommends linking it through your Nexon Account Settings in a browser, although launching MapleStory through Steam can also prompt you to sign in and confirm the link. Check the account name carefully: your Steam profile can only be connected to one Nexon account at a time without going through the unlinking process.

Find Classic World after the update

Nexon Launcher users select the Classic World tab on the MapleStory game page before starting the client. Steam users launch MapleStory normally, then pick Classic World when the client asks which experience to open.

The free Grand Launch does not need a Founder’s Package. Those packages were for paid early access and their sales period has ended. If the Classic option still mentions buying a package before maintenance finishes, you are looking at the Founder’s Access gate rather than the free launch build.

If the Classic World option is missing

First, check the time. The October 21 maintenance is scheduled to end around 11:00 AM PDT, and Nexon warns that maintenance times can change. The button being locked or absent before then is expected.

Once maintenance is marked complete, close the game and fully restart Nexon Launcher or Steam. Let the platform apply its update, then check the MapleStory page or experience selector again. Steam users should verify that the base MapleStory installation is complete; Nexon Launcher users should confirm they are looking at MapleStory's game page rather than searching for a separate store listing.

If the option remains missing after Nexon confirms the servers are live, sign out and back in, check that your Nexon email is verified, and confirm that Steam is linked to the intended Nexon account. Avoid deleting the whole installation while launch maintenance is still moving. A delayed server opening can look exactly like a bad install, and downloading everything again will not make the servers open sooner.
