When Does Metro Redux's Free Update Arrive?
Metro 2033 Redux and Last Light Redux get free updates October 22 on PC and October 29 on consoles, with Japan following in November.
Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux are getting free updates for existing owners this month. PC players get them on October 22, 2026, with consoles following on October 29. Japanese console players have a later November window, with no exact day listed in the official Steam notice.
Deep Silver announced the updates on October 1. Its supported-owner list covers Steam, Epic Games Store, Windows Store, GOG, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you were about to start another run, waiting for your platform's download makes sense.

What changes on PC, PlayStation and Xbox
PC additions include DLSS, spatial audio and community-led fixes. Consoles get native PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S support, with PSSR on PS5 Pro and TSR upscaling and anti-aliasing on Xbox Series X. DualSense adaptive triggers and Xbox impulse triggers are also supported, alongside Xbox Play Anywhere and handheld support.
Deep Silver advertises console modes offering 4K at 60FPS and upscaled 4K at 120FPS with suitable display hardware. The full technical and platform-specific patch notes are due at launch. Check those before assuming your console gets every advertised mode; these are the publisher's announced targets, not results from Game Pelt testing.
Across platforms, the update adds support for 4K textures and improves animation, audio and environmental detail. It also brings community-led bug fixes and quality-of-life changes. Deep Silver says the existing Redux experience is being preserved, rather than rebuilt as a full remaster or remake.

The announcement also reports 50 million Metro game sales worldwide. That milestone is background; the useful reason to return is a free hardware update for two games you may already own.
For a replay, keep October 22 or October 29 in mind, or November if you play on console in Japan. Read the launch notes for your platform before choosing a performance mode, then head back into the tunnels with the update installed.
