Who Gets Monster Hunter Stories 3 on PC Without Buying Again?
Monster Hunter Stories 3 reaches Xbox PC November 18 with Play Anywhere support. Check eligible purchases, shared progress and the separate October trial limits.
Eligible digital Xbox owners will be able to play Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection on Xbox PC without buying it again. Capcom has set November 18, 2026, for that version's launch with Xbox Play Anywhere support, covering Xbox Series X|S, Windows 11 PCs and compatible gaming handhelds.
The important word is eligible. This is not a free copy for everyone who owns the game on any platform. Check where you bought it before treating the announcement as a reason to skip a purchase or make another one.
Which purchases qualify for Play Anywhere?
Xbox's standard rules cover participating digital games owned through the Xbox Store or Windows Store. Eligible digital codes from participating retailers are also supported. Use the Play Anywhere badge and the details on your exact store listing to confirm the license.
A Steam or PlayStation purchase is not an Xbox Play Anywhere entitlement. Capcom's announcement does not establish physical-copy eligibility or provide a separate breakdown for every edition, so do not assume a disc or a particular bundle grants the PC version.

What carries over to the Xbox PC version?
Capcom says save data, additional game content and achievements carry between the supported devices. For a qualifying owner, the point is to continue the same adventure on another device rather than start over or pay for the base game again.
That also has a practical limit: compatible handhelds still need to run the game. Play Anywhere is an ownership and progression feature, not proof of a particular frame rate, battery life or performance setting. Those need their own checks when the Xbox PC version arrives.
Are the October trials unlimited weekend access?
No. Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will have three-hour timed Xbox trials from October 22 through October 25. Capcom says these are open to Xbox players without requiring a Game Pass membership.
The dates describe when the offer is available, not unlimited playing time. This is a chance to sample the earlier turn-based RPGs, not a giveaway of the full games. Capcom has not provided exact start and end times in this announcement.
Can you try Stories 3 before November 18?
Yes, on Xbox Series X|S. Capcom points to the existing free trial for Twisted Reflection, which lets players carry their progress into the full game. It is a separate offer from the October trials of Stories 1 and 2.
The sensible move depends on what you already own. Newcomers can try the series before committing. Eligible digital Xbox owners should check their edition's Play Anywhere details and their library when the November 18 PC release arrives. Do that before paying for the same game twice.
