Subnautica 2's planned Early Access 2 update will put Dash on fins instead of making it an active Biomod choice. That means keeping Dash will no longer require passing up another active Biomod. Unknown Worlds also plans a new playable region and a Frog chassis for the Tadpole, but has not announced a release date in this preview.

Creative Director Anthony Gallegos outlined the changes in the first Voyage to Early Access 2 video on October 15. These are upcoming additions, not features available through a patch released today. Early Access 2 is not an announcement of the game's full 1.0 release.

Dash no longer competes for the active Biomod choice

Gallegos says Dash will be part of the fins themselves. For players choosing between Dash and another active Biomod, the planned change removes that particular tradeoff. The team is also introducing a couple of new Biomods and related gameplay, with more details left for later episodes.

The Tadpole's buildable Frog chassis adds arms and legs. The preview promises new abilities, but does not supply a complete ability list, crafting recipe or final balance values. It is too early to plan a build around numbers that have not been published.

A new region brings several biomes and more story

The exploration addition is a complete playable region containing several biomes. Unknown Worlds plans new creatures, more story about the colonists and other beings, and changes to the Collector Leviathan's behavior. Gallegos describes the region as frightening; that is the developer's assessment, not our hands-on verdict.

Base builders will get a round room. Further changes based on Early Access feedback are planned, with level designers, artists and other team members due to explain their work across the video series.

This is a substantial update to watch if you have been waiting for more territory or different equipment choices. The missing date is the practical limit: do not schedule a fresh run around a guessed launch week.
