WoW Forever's beta now offers Discord-powered party voice. Blizzard added the option in its October 8 update, and the party leader's Audio setting determines which voice service the entire party uses.

The useful choice is not simply newer versus older. Discord mode has different account-linking options, while Legacy remains the option to use when the group needs Text-to-Speech or Speech-to-Text.

The leader chooses, and Group Finder can prompt members

Discord Voice is selectable under Audio settings. Since the leader's choice applies to the party, agree on the service before assuming everyone will use the same personal setting.

Group Finder postings can also specify an In-Game Voice Mode. Members of the resulting party receive a prompt to join the selected voice chat. That makes the voice choice part of forming the group, not just something to explain after everyone arrives.

The in-game tooltip describes Discord account linking as optional. Under Social settings, linking lets players inherit Discord keybinds and volume settings. The same tooltip says other players do not require Discord accounts to join.

That does not establish the leader's account requirements or whether the Discord desktop app is required. Optional linking and guest participation should not be turned into a promise about every setup step.

Keep Legacy when the party needs speech features

The Discord option's tooltip says it does not support Text-to-Speech or Speech-to-Text. Legacy uses WoW's older in-game voice service and is the option the interface recommends when those features are needed.

If someone in your group relies on either tool, check that need before choosing Discord as the party's service. The leader controls the selection, but the decision should work for the people joining.

This is a confirmed Forever beta addition, not a tested claim of better audio or connection reliability. For now, choose the service around the group's needs rather than assuming the newer option is the better one for everyone.
