This is the clean Human 1-30 route for WoW Forever: Northshire, Elwynn, Westfall, one prepared Deadmines run, Redridge, then Duskwood. It keeps the Human story path intact, uses Stormwind as the natural trainer and dungeon hub, and only sends you north when the main route is crowded or you need a backup.

The important part is not memorizing every tree in Elwynn. It is leaving each hub once your errands are stacked, your bags are empty, and your next dungeon is actually prepared.

The route at a glance

LevelWhere to goWhat to do
1-5Northshire AbbeyFinish the compact starter circuit, train, sell, then leave on the Goldshire breadcrumb.
5-10Elwynn ForestUse Goldshire as the hub; clear farms, mines, murlocs, Eastvale, and Westbrook in loops.
10-13Stormwind and Westfall entryTrain level 10 tools, set up professions, then move to Furlbrow's Pumpkin Farm and Sentinel Hill.
13-16WestfallStack farms, coast, gnolls, Defias, Sentinel Hill, and lighthouse objectives before the dungeon chain.
16-20The DeadminesFinish the Defias setup and run Deadmines once with quests instead of farming empty clears.
20-24Redridge MountainsBase from Lakeshire; do gnolls, bridge materials, murlocs, Blackrock orcs, and skip elites without a group.
24-30DuskwoodWork Sven's Camp, Darkshire, Raven Hill, Abercrombie, and Night Watch loops until 30.

Before you leave Northshire

Northshire is short, but sloppy starts create slow level 6 and 7 characters. Finish the whole Abbey loop before running to Goldshire.

  • Train before you leave. Your early trainer is close, so there is no reason to arrive in Goldshire missing core buttons.
  • Sell before the road south. Bag space matters immediately because Elwynn piles up candles, dust, meat, cloth, and quest items.
  • Take the Goldshire handoff. You want the inn, trainer path, and road network working for you as soon as possible.

Levels 1-5: Northshire Abbey

Start at . Clear wolves and kobolds first, then move through Milly's vineyard and the Defias camp. Do not peel off to Goldshire the moment a quest sends you there; finish the nearby hand-ins and trainer stop before leaving.

  • Clear the opening Abbey quests around the courtyard.
  • Kill kobolds while finishing the mine and candle objectives.
  • Do Milly's vineyard and the nearby Defias objectives together.
  • Train, sell, then take the road to Goldshire.

Levels 5-10: Goldshire and Elwynn loops

Set Goldshire as the working hub around . Use it for trainer visits, bag cleanup, and the first serious route split. The clean loop is mines and candles, Stonefield and Maclure farms, Eastvale, then Westbrook.

Do not spend level 8 walking in long straight lines. Elwynn works when you loop: pick up several objectives, leave town once, and come back with enough completed quests to make the return worth it.

  • Fargodeep and Jasperlode: do the kobold work while it is still yellow and close.
  • Stonefield and Maclure farms: batch the family errands, necklace, and nearby boars or bears.
  • Eastvale and the murloc coast: finish Guard Thomas errands and water-side objectives before looping back.
  • Westbrook Garrison: do gnolls and take Hogger only if a group is already forming.

Level 10 setup: Stormwind before Westfall

At level 10, go to before committing to Westfall. Train your level 10 kit, repair, buy supplies, pick up professions if you skipped them, and reset your bags. Class-specific errands vary, so handle anything that starts in the capital now.

Blizzard's Forever class article also matters here because Forever opens new race and class combinations. If your Human class has a new or changed early class quest, do it during this Stormwind stop instead of after you are halfway through Westfall.

Levels 10-16: Westfall setup

Enter Westfall through , then make Sentinel Hill your anchor. Pick up the farm, People's Militia, stew, liver, coast, and Defias work in clusters. Westfall is where you start caring about dungeon preparation, not just open-world XP.

  • Do Furlbrow and Saldean farm work while killing boars, coyotes, harvest watchers, and Defias nearby.
  • Move through Sentinel Hill once enough quests send you there; get the flight path and make the hub stick.
  • Do the lighthouse and murloc coast as one trip. Runners make this area messy, so leave before your bags force a second beach lap.
  • Push the Defias chain forward before Deadmines rather than treating it as optional flavor.

Levels 16-20: run The Deadmines once

The Deadmines is the main dungeon for this Human route. Do not enter from with an empty log. The run is worth it because the quest stack, boss objectives, and follow-up chain all land together.

  • Bring the Defias chain. The VanCleef step is the point of the route.
  • Bring Stormwind-side Deadmines quests. Oh Brother..., Collecting Memories, and Underground Assault are the kind of errands you want ready before the group starts.
  • Keep The Unsent Letter. It starts the later Stormwind chain that can lead naturally toward Stockade planning.
  • Run it once unless the group is unusually clean. Repeated empty dungeon clears are usually worse than moving to Redridge.

Use Game Pelt's WoW Forever dungeon quest checklist before you enter. The goal is simple: collect the quests first, then clear.

Levels 20-24: Redridge Mountains

Move to after Deadmines. Redridge is the bridge between Westfall and Duskwood: enough open-world XP, enough humanoid camps for cloth and coin, and enough group quests that you should know what to skip.

Start with gnolls, lost tools, bridge materials, fish, murlocs, and town errands. Add Blackrock orcs once they are reasonable. Save the harder elite keep work for a real group; forcing it solo is how a good route turns into a repair bill.

  • Do: Lakeshire errands, bridge parts, murlocs, gnolls, and yellow Blackrock camp work.
  • Group if available: Tharil'zun, Gath'Ilzogg, and deep Stonewatch objectives.
  • Leave for Duskwood around 24. If Redridge goes dry early, do a small Loch Modan or Westfall cleanup lap rather than grinding random mobs.

Levels 24-30: Duskwood

Enter Duskwood from the west, touch , then make the hub. This is the best final stretch for a Human because the zone chains naturally from Westfall and Redridge without making you cross the world.

  • Open Sven's Camp and the first Darkshire errands.
  • Start The Night Watch, Look To The Stars, and The Hermit/Abercrombie chain before riding west again.
  • Batch Raven Hill, wolves, worgen, spiders, and Abercrombie hand-ins into loops instead of bouncing after every single turn-in.
  • Save Morbent Fel, Stalvan, and elite-heavy steps for a group or for after 30 if the risk is too high.

Duskwood is good because it is dense, not because every quest is safe. If a step sends you into orange mobs or elite trouble, park it and keep the yellow circuit moving.

Dungeon order for Human 1-30

DungeonBest rangeHow to use it
The Deadmines17-21Primary run. Enter only after you have the Defias chain and the Stormwind side quests ready.
The Stockade23-30Optional Stormwind run if The Unsent Letter chain and group timing are convenient.
Hall of Thanes13-18Optional Ironforge-side detour. Good with quests; do not force the travel on a clean Human route.
Excavation Site26-31Optional Wetlands backup near the end of the bracket if you already moved north.

Blizzard's Forever panel recap names new and returning dungeon content as part of the long-term Forever plan. For this exact Human 1-30 route, the practical rule stays the same: dungeons are strongest when they overlap your quest log and weakest when you are only chasing mob XP.

Backup route if Westfall or Duskwood is packed

If launch crowding turns Westfall or Duskwood into a queue, do not stand still waiting on named mobs. Use the northern Alliance zones as pressure valves, then return to the main Human route once the bottleneck clears.

  • Loch Modan: good backup from roughly 12-20, especially if Stormwind and Ironforge travel is already convenient.
  • Wetlands: useful around the mid-to-late 20s, especially if Duskwood is overcrowded or you want Excavation Site access.
  • Darkshore: works as a full alternate 10-20 path, but it is a bigger commitment from a Human start.
  • Do not over-rotate. A backup zone is for fixing a bad bottleneck, not for turning a clean Elwynn-to-Duskwood route into a continent tour.

Class notes for Humans

This is an all-class Human route, so your class-specific trainer quests sit on top of the zone plan. Handle them during natural city or hub stops instead of derailing the whole path.

Class typeRoute adjustment
Warrior or PaladinWeapon upgrades matter. Carry food, train defensive tools, and avoid orange pulls that turn every fight into downtime.
RogueKeep weapons current, use stealth to reduce bad cave pulls, and do lockpicking work when it overlaps your route.
Priest or MageBuy water, protect wand uptime, and use control spells before a pull gets ugly.
HunterForever adds Human Hunters, so do pet and ammo maintenance during trainer stops instead of halfway across Westfall.
WarlockUse the separate Human Warlock route for pet quest timing, soul shard planning, and class-specific dungeon setup.

Playing Human Warlock specifically? Use the Human Warlock 1-30 route instead. That version includes pet quests, Warlock-only routing, and class combat notes.

Town stop checklist

Every hub stop should solve several problems at once. If you walk out of town and remember a trainer, vendor, bag, or flight-path mistake five minutes later, the route did not fail; the town stop did.

  • Sell gray items and bank profession materials.
  • Repair, restock food, water, ammo, reagents, and class supplies.
  • Train core skills and put new ranks on your bars.
  • Set your Hearthstone to the hub you are actively using.
  • Check whether your next dungeon quests are ready before joining a group.
