How Do Honor and Rank Points Unlock WoW Forever PvP Gear?

Honor buys PvP equipment in WoW Forever. Rank Points advance your rank and unlock its rewards. For epic set upgrades, you also need the corresponding blue piece and an Emboldened Seal. A large Honor balance does not replace those other requirements.

This guide covers Blizzard's announced progression rules, checked October 8. It is not a tested fastest-farm route or a promise that every endgame reward is available in the current beta.

Honor and Rank Points do different jobs

Honor is the currency you spend. You earn it by defeating other players, completing battlegrounds and finishing relevant PvP quests. Highlighted battlegrounds award increased Honor during their holiday weeks.

Rank Points move you through the familiar PvP ranks toward High Warlord for Horde or Grand Marshal for Alliance. Battlegrounds and relevant PvP quests award them, with an additional boost in holiday-week battlegrounds.

The useful distinction is purchase money versus rank eligibility. If an Emboldened Seal requires a rank you have not reached, having enough Honor does not mean you can buy it yet.

Open your Character Pane with C, then select the Player vs. Player tab. It shows your current rank, Rank Points and the rewards available for purchase at that rank. Check it before choosing your next upgrade.

Buy the blue piece before planning its epic upgrade

The announced epic set upgrade requires the blue piece plus an Emboldened Seal. Those seals have rank requirements, so you need the correct base item and the required rank as well as the listed currency.

Choose the slot you want to improve, inspect its requirements and keep the required blue item until you can upgrade it. Buying a blue item for a different slot does not establish that you have the base piece needed for this purchase.

Check the role-specific options too. Shaman have healer, melee and caster PvP sets. A piece being available to your class does not make it the right choice for the specialization you intend to play.

This is an explanation of the upgrade requirements, not a universal spending order. Without a verified cost list and your current equipment, there is no responsible way to declare one first purchase best for every character.

Every announced rank reward

Use this list to find the next relevant unlock. It follows the official reward wording, including the distinction between listed equipment and upgrade tokens.

Rank 8 lists epic bracers alongside an epic belt upgrade token. Rank 14 lists epic weapons. Do not assume that every reward uses an identical seal recipe; read the individual vendor requirements for the item you want.

Weekly caps matter more than a promised finish date

Ranks have weekly caps. The official progression overview does not give the exact cap values, a complete item-price schedule or enough detail to calculate a guaranteed time to High Warlord or Grand Marshal.

Holiday bonuses increase rewards from the highlighted battleground, but they are not evidence that weekly caps disappear. Check the active holiday when planning your matches, without treating one map as a proven fastest farm for the whole season.

Blizzard says it reviewed Honor gains across battlegrounds to make acquisition more consistent. That is the design goal, not measured proof that every map pays equally per hour.

Seasonal tasks also contribute to Legacy

Each PvP season has weekly tasks that award Honor and Rank Points. Three tasks each season also grant a Legacy Point.

The Legacy-linked tasks remain available to complete in future seasons. That does not establish that every seasonal reward or purchase carries over; keep the task rule separate from assumptions about the rest of the season.

Your next purchase check

First, check the Player vs. Player tab for your actual rank and available rewards. Next, inspect the vendor's requirements for the slot and specialization you want. For an epic set upgrade, confirm the required blue piece and seal before spending or discarding equipment.

Then work toward that eligible purchase through battlegrounds and relevant quests, including seasonal tasks. Build the plan around the requirements you can verify, not a rank-14 deadline the published rules cannot yet support.
