Where Should Undead Level From 1–30 in WoW Forever?
Follow an efficient Undead route from Deathknell to level 30 in WoW Forever, with exact quest clusters, zone transfers, dungeon timing, and class-specific jobs.
An efficient Undead run to level 30 is not one endless arrow through Silverpine. WoW Forever adds enough work to keep you in Tirisfal longer, but Silverpine still develops a nasty empty patch if you refuse to move. The clean route finishes the dense Forsaken chains, uses one properly prepared dungeon run, clears Hillsbrad, then transfers to Stonetalon and Thousand Needles for the final push.
This is a Game Pelt recommended route for the current beta, not an official Blizzard speedrun. Quest levels, breadcrumbs, XP, and new beta chains can change. If a named quest is missing, finish the prerequisite quests in that hub and check again. Do not burn twenty minutes hunting an NPC that moved in yesterday’s build.
The level 1–30 route at a glance
| Level | Zone or hub | Main job |
|---|---|---|
| 1–5 | Deathknell | Finish every compact starting quest; leave only after Vital Intelligence sends you toward Brill. |
| 5–9 | Brill and western Tirisfal | Stack the farm, pumpkin, zombie, Scarlet, and plague quests before each loop. |
| 9–13 | Northern and eastern Tirisfal | Finish the Scarlet and plague chains, Family Crypt, Haunted Mills, and new beta quests that share the same route. |
| 13–16 | The Sepulcher and northern Silverpine | Do the Dead Fields, Rot Hide, ferry, worg, and Sepulcher chains. Unlock the flight path immediately. |
| 16–20 | Southern Silverpine and Ruins of Lordaeron | Clear Ambermill and Pyrewood objectives, then run Ruins once with every available quest at 18–20. |
| 20–25 | Tarren Mill and Shadowfang Keep | Work the Battle of Hillsbrad, Elixir, Helcular, Syndicate, and Deathstalker chains. Add one full-quest Shadowfang run. |
| 25–27 | Sun Rock Retreat, Stonetalon | Use the zeppelin and flight network, then stack spider, goblin, Venture Co., and harpy objectives. |
| 27–30 | Freewind Post, Thousand Needles | Finish the centaur, Grimtotem, Test of Faith, Arikara, and ore loops. Stop when the beta cap hits 30. |
Before you start
- Choose a leveling spec, not a level-60 promise. Early talents should reduce downtime, improve reliable damage, or help you survive an extra pull. Respec later if the beta changes your class.
- Loot cloth and upgrade bags early. Vendor trips wreck a good route. Six extra slots are worth more than one tiny armor upgrade.
- Take First Aid on every non-healer. Bandages turn cloth into less sitting. Cooking helps every class, especially while Cannibalize is unavailable.
- Use Cannibalize between humanoid or undead pulls. Blizzard’s current Undead racial restores 35% Health and Mana over time. Save food and drinks when a safe corpse is already on the floor.
- Bind your Hearthstone to the hub you are actively clearing. Deathknell, Brill, the Sepulcher, Tarren Mill, Sun Rock Retreat, and Freewind Post are work sites, not souvenirs.
Levels 1–5: clear Deathknell in one sweep
Start Rude Awakening at the . The handle the opening chain. Work through The Mindless Ones and The Damned while collecting every nearby class quest, then continue with Rattling the Rattlecages, The Chill of Death, Night Web's Hollow, The Scarlet Crusade, and The Red Messenger. Finish with Vital Intelligence and follow the road toward Brill.
- Kill on the way to objectives. Do not grind inside the crypt unless you need half a bar before a new quest opens.
- Train once near level 4. Buy your main damage ability first. Utility can wait if silver is tight.
- Leave with your class quest finished. Warlocks especially should not walk away without the early summon quest handled.
Levels 5–9: Brill and western Tirisfal
Set your Hearthstone in Brill, then collect At War With the Scarlet Crusade from . starts the plague work, while handles the mill quests. Combine the objectives with pumpkin collection, zombie kills, Scarlet kills, and any new Forever quests pointing into the same fields.
- Do Gordo’s Task on the road into Brill. Pick the weeds while moving instead of returning for them later.
- Stack The Mills Overrun with family and crypt work. The Agamand area is a long walk. One visit should clear several objectives.
- Do not wait for a crowded named enemy alone. Invite nearby players before the tag, especially during the beta rush. Layer changes can still make named targets awkward.
Levels 9–13: finish Tirisfal before Silverpine
Continue At War With the Scarlet Crusade through the and the . Finish the available A New Plague steps, then clear , The Lich's Identity, Return the Book, and the northeast Scarlet objectives. Take new Bandarion Keep or Shadowvale quests when they share the same direction; leave isolated errands until you have two or more reasons to travel there.
Current player reports on Blizzard’s official forums say the expanded Tirisfal route can carry a character to level 13, and sometimes well into 14. That is the efficient exit window. Leaving at 10 only trades dense local quests for extra Silverpine travel.
Undead Paladin warning
A current beta report on Blizzard’s forums says the Forsaken Paladin resurrection quest is tied to the new Paladin area and its breadcrumb is easy to miss. Paladins should finish that class chain before leaving Tirisfal. Every other class should skip the long detour unless a normal quest already sends you there.

Levels 13–16: the Sepulcher and northern Silverpine
Follow the road south and unlock the . and anchor the quest hub. Pick up The Dead Fields, Prove Your Worth, A Recipe for Death, Rot Hide Ichor, The Decrepit Ferry, and the early worg and Deathstalker quests. Clear and complete Escorting Erland before expecting the Discolored Worg Hearts objective to flow properly in the current beta.
- Clear The Dead Fields and Rot Hide objectives north and east of the Sepulcher.
- Follow The Decrepit Ferry into Rot Hide Clues and The Engraved Ring instead of making separate coast trips.
- Turn in Escorting Erland, accept the follow-up worg work, then clear hearts and nearby objectives together.
- Return to the Sepulcher, train if needed, and sell before pushing toward Ambermill.
Levels 16–20: southern Silverpine and Ruins of Lordaeron
Work , then Beren's Peril, Border Crossings, The Weaver, and when their prerequisites appear. Use the for that chain. Skip Sons of Arugal patrols and any orange elite objective that cannot be grouped quickly. A death and corpse run erase the XP advantage of forcing it.
When to run Ruins of Lordaeron
Blizzard lists Ruins of Lordaeron as a level 15–20 beta dungeon, but current groups report that its dense packs and level-20 final boss punish underleveled parties. Collect every quest available around Undercity and the dungeon entrance, then run it once around level 18–20.
- Bring all quests. The quest turn-ins are the reason one prepared run is so efficient.
- Bring a real plan for loose mobs. A second sturdy front-liner, Voidwalker, reliable crowd control, or coordinated focus fire matters because early tanks have limited area threat.
- Do the hidden event last. The official-forum beta report describes a wave event started near a house fireplace. Save it until the main route is secure.
The dungeon guidance comes from current beta players on Blizzard’s official forums. They recommend higher levels than the minimum gate and report that some dungeon quests do not appear until level 15 or 16. Treat that as beta field reporting, not final tuning.
Levels 20–25: Tarren Mill and Shadowfang Keep
Ride south into Hillsbrad Foothills and unlock the . and provide the main chains. Take Time to Strike, Battle of Hillsbrad, the Elixir quests, Helcular's Revenge, Dangerous!, Wanted: Syndicate Personnel, and Souvenirs of Death as they open. Stack the objectives, then handle before returning to town.
- Do the early Battle of Hillsbrad steps together. The chain revisits the same farms. Read the next step before riding away.
- Group for Helcular and the later mine or town steps. These areas punish solo players with runners and linked packs.
- Run Shadowfang Keep once with quests. Gather Deathstalkers in Shadowfang, The Book of Ur, Arugal Must Die, and any connected Sepulcher or Undercity quests still available. One full run is useful; repeated empty runs are gambling with travel time.
Level 25 Legacy checkpoint
The Legacy system normally begins awarding points at level 25. Spend the first point only after reading the current choices in the beta build. A route guide should get you to the decision, not pretend one account-wide choice fits every character you may level later.
Levels 25–27: transfer to Stonetalon Mountains
Finish every Hillsbrad turn-in, Hearth to Undercity, then take the . Use the , then unlock the . Its starts the next route. This transfer looks slow on the map, but it replaces a thin Eastern Kingdoms bracket with compact Horde quests.
Pick up Arachnophobia, Blood Feeders, Goblin Invaders, and Deepmoss Spider Eggs in Sun Rock. Find for Super Reaper 6000 and Gerenzo Wrenchwhistle. Stack the , then stack the . Skip long escort waits when several groups are camping the same NPC.
Levels 27–30: Freewind Post and Thousand Needles
Fly to the , ride south, and unlock the . Its offer Message to Freewind Post, , Alien Egg, , A New Ore Sample, , , and the Sacred Fire chain when their prerequisites appear.
- Clear centaur objectives on the western side before climbing back to Freewind.
- Do Test of Faith when you are already near the lift route. The return travel is the expensive part.
- Stack Grimtotem kills with Arnak and any item collections in the same mesa.
- Finish Arikara and Sacred Fire with a group if the event or cave is crowded.
- Stop at 30, train, and bank. Do not waste completed quests at the beta cap unless you are testing content rather than leveling.
Class-specific leveling jobs
Blizzard confirms Undead can be Mages, Paladins, Priests, Rogues, Warlocks, or Warriors in Forever. The route above works for all six, but each class has one job that matters more than squeezing in another low-value quest.
| Class | Recommended leveling approach | Do not skip |
|---|---|---|
| Mage | Frost for control and low downtime | Buy a wand early. Train current Frostbolt ranks, Frost Nova, Polymorph, Blink, and Evocation. At 20, learn Teleport: Undercity if the trainer offers it. |
| Paladin | Retribution with a slow two-hander | Keep Blessing of Might active and complete the new Forsaken resurrection chain before leaving Tirisfal. The beta breadcrumb can be easy to miss. |
| Priest | Shadow damage with wand finishing | Keep Power Word: Fortitude active, open with Shadow Word: Pain, and wand low-health targets instead of drinking after every pull. Carry drinks anyway. |
| Rogue | Combat-style weapon damage | Keep both weapons current. Complete Lockpicking and Poison class quests when offered, carry poison supplies, and use Sap or Gouge to avoid bad multi-pulls. |
| Warlock | Affliction pressure with a Voidwalker | Complete the Imp and Voidwalker summon quests, keep Soul Shards stocked, and use Life Tap only when you have food, a Healthstone, or a safe Drain Life plan. |
| Warrior | Arms with the best two-hander available | Weapon damage is your leveling speed. Train First Aid, keep Battle Shout active, finish the level-10 stance quest, and do not chain orange mobs without an escape. |
Undead racials that save time
- Cannibalize: restores 35% Health and Mana over time from a suitable nearby corpse. Use it after the pack is safe, not while the next patrol is walking into you.
- Will of the Forsaken: removes Charm, Fear, and Sleep. Keep it ready around caster-heavy camps and dungeon pulls.
- Touch of the Grave: can drain health through your attacks. It is free value, but not permission to pull three mobs at ten percent health.
- Underwater Breathing: lasts 300% longer. Silverpine coast and Thousand Needles water objectives become less annoying, but watch your timer anyway.
Trainer and gear checkpoints
| Level | Before you move on |
|---|---|
| 5 | Train, repair, sell, and equip the best quest weapon before leaving Deathknell. |
| 10 | Spend the first talent point, train new abilities, learn professions, and buy larger bags if affordable. |
| 13 | Finish the dense Tirisfal chains before walking into Silverpine. Players in the current beta report reaching 13–15 here. |
| 16 | Collect every Ruins of Lordaeron quest you can see, but wait until 18–20 for a smoother run. |
| 20 | Train the full level-20 kit, clear bags, set Tarren Mill as the next working hub, and finish any class quest still waiting. |
| 25 | Claim the first Legacy Point when the system becomes available, then move west only after cleaning up your Eastern Kingdoms turn-ins. |
| 30 | Train once more, bank useful materials, and stop planning around beta XP totals because the cap and tuning can change. |
Skip rules that keep the route moving
- Skip isolated gray quests. Completion is not efficiency. A gray reward does not pay for a cross-zone ride.
- Skip elite quests without a group already forming. Ask once in zone chat, keep questing nearby, and leave after a few minutes.
- Skip repeated dungeon runs unless the group is instant. One quest-loaded run is excellent. Standing in Undercity for forty minutes is not leveling.
- Kill mobs that stand between you and the objective. Running around every enemy saves seconds until you arrive underleveled and have to grind later.
- Train on planned visits. Levels 10, 20, and 30 are natural full stops. Between them, return only for a major spell, class quest, or weapon upgrade.
What is confirmed and what is recommended
Blizzard confirms that the Forever beta begins with content through level 20 and later raises the cap to 30, and that Ruins of Lordaeron is a level 15–20 dungeon. Blizzard’s class and race article confirms the six Undead classes and the current Undead racials. Blizzard’s Forever panel recap confirms more than 1,000 new quests across the 1–60 journey and the Forsaken story around reclaiming the Ruins of Lordaeron.
The quest order, zone transfers, dungeon timing, class recommendations, and skip rules are Game Pelt guidance built for the current beta. Player observations cited from Blizzard’s official forums are labeled as community reports. No third-party guides are cited.
