Amplifying a weapon in ARC Raiders is more serious than fitting a new mod. Frozen Trail added a fifth quality level with branching upgrades that can change how a gun behaves. Once you commit to a path, that choice belongs to the weapon, so an exciting tooltip can turn into a very expensive lesson.

The safest way to choose is to start with the job you want the gun to do. Current creator tests do not agree on one universal best weapon, but they repeatedly converge on a few useful roles: faster heavy ARC damage, a cheap PvP conversion, a stronger midrange automatic, and one premium long-range PvE project.

These five picks combine the official system description with recent testing from KaidGames2, Millzaa, Diggy, Crazymrpipz, and Espresso. Exact balance can change, and Game Pelt is not claiming firsthand testing. The recommendations focus on paths that solve a clear problem rather than upgrades that are merely different.

1. Hullcracker: Incendiary Grenades

Choose the Hullcracker's Incendiary Grenades path when large ARC enemies are the reason you are amplifying a weapon. The base launcher already has a clear PvE job. The fire effect adds damage after impact, which lets you shoot, move, and keep pressure on targets such as Bastions, Bombardiers, Leapers, and bosses without standing still for every point of damage.

Millzaa's direct comparison found the incendiary version noticeably stronger than the regular Hullcracker against large ARC targets. Espresso also highlighted the damage gain over a full five-shot cycle, while Crazymrpipz called the path worth taking for players who enjoy PvE. That is unusually consistent support across three independent tests.

There is one important limit: the burn does not stack. Dumping every shot as fast as possible wastes part of the benefit. Fire once, reposition while the damage ticks, then fire again when the effect has run its course. This is a deliberate boss weapon, not a panic button for a Wasp.

If the Hullcracker's single-round reload is what bothers you most, Mag Reload is the practical alternative. It improves comfort without changing the weapon's damage rhythm. Incendiary Grenades is the stronger permanent choice for dedicated ARC hunting; Mag Reload is the safer choice if convenience matters more than maximum output.

2. Anvil: X Rounds

The Anvil's X Rounds path is the easiest recommendation for players who want a meaningful amplification without building an entire late-game project around one gun. It is a single-step commitment, adds explosive damage, and improves performance against ARC armor while still helping against Raiders.

Crazymrpipz points to the altered damage breakpoints as the main gain: parts that could survive a regular Anvil hit may come off in one amplified shot. Espresso also places Anvil X Rounds among the PvE investments worth considering. The value is not that it turns the Anvil into a new class of weapon. It makes a familiar, already useful hand cannon more reliable at the exact job players bring it for.

Take X Rounds if you already trust your Anvil aim and want cleaner armor breaks. Do not confuse that with Splitter. Splitter divides the projectile and can make the weapon less dependable at the ranges where precise Anvil shots matter. A permanent upgrade should reduce uncertainty, not create more of it.

This is also a sensible first amplification because the material commitment is easier to understand. You get a defined benefit after one upgrade instead of waiting through several expensive stages before the weapon feels complete.

3. Il Toro: Slug Rounds

Slug Rounds turn the Il Toro from a close-range buckshot weapon into a hard-hitting single-projectile gun. That changes the aiming requirement and extends the distance at which a clean shot matters. It is the best choice here for players who like the Il Toro but want something closer to a compact marksman weapon for Raider fights.

Diggy's direct test described the amplified Il Toro as a top-five weapon and emphasized how much the slug changes its reach. Espresso had already used the path in pre-update capture sessions and reported that it remained a strong PvP choice after launch. KaidGames2's current PvP ranking also keeps the Il Toro in the conversation even before amplification.

This path is not a free damage button. A slug removes the forgiveness of a pellet spread. Miss the center of the target and the entire shot misses with it. Players who rely on hip-fire coverage or point-blank chaos may prefer the original behavior.

Choose Slug Rounds when you are comfortable aiming each shot and want the Il Toro to contest short-to-midrange fights. Skip it if the shotgun's forgiving spread is the main reason you use the weapon.

4. Canto: Carbine Conversion

Carbine Conversion gives the Canto a more sustainable midrange identity. The weapon becomes more accurate and useful at distance while preserving the fast automatic pressure that makes it dangerous when a fight closes in. Add Incendiary Rounds later if you want damage to continue after an opponent reaches cover.

Crazymrpipz calls the converted Canto a favorite automatic rifle and specifically praises its range and fire rate. Espresso reaches a similar conclusion, describing the conversion as a way to give the Canto a real role in fights normally controlled by popular automatic weapons. That agreement matters because both tests judge the gun against the same crowded PvP category.

The tradeoff is reduced agility. This is not the path for a player who wants maximum snap movement in very close rooms. It rewards controlled tracking and fights where the target is far enough away for the accuracy gain to matter.

Choose Carbine Conversion as a general PvP and mixed-raid weapon. It is less specialized than the Hullcracker or Il Toro, which makes it a good permanent home for players who do not want to maintain a different amplified gun for every encounter.

5. Jupiter: Bigger Magazine and Scope

The Jupiter is the expensive recommendation, and it earns that place by making an already excellent PvE weapon easier to sustain. The larger magazine effectively gives you more shots before a reload, while the scope adds a ranged option without ruining the weapon's accurate hip fire at close distance.

Crazymrpipz ranks it as the first legendary amplification to prioritize for PvE. KaidGames2 independently places the base Jupiter in the top PvE tier, which supports the basic logic: amplifying a weapon that is already exceptional at its job carries less risk than trying to rescue a weak one. Frozen Trail's 2.0 notes also changed how Jupiter damage interacts with ARC armor, making it stronger against armor but slightly weaker against weak spots.

The warning is cost. A premium weapon also creates a premium repair bill, and amplified weapons require Amplified Fragments to maintain. Do not begin this path because one good raid left you temporarily rich. Begin it when Jupiter is already part of your regular PvE kit and you can support its repairs.

For players with the resources, Bigger Magazine first and Scope after it is the most dependable premium project. For everyone else, the Anvil or Hullcracker produces a clearer return sooner.

Amplifications to Avoid for Now

Avoid Anvil Splitter unless a later balance change gives it a clearer niche. Current tests favor X Rounds because they preserve the Anvil's precision and improve useful breakpoints. Splitting the shot works against the reason most players carry the gun.

Do not rush a fully amplified Aphelion either. It can produce spectacular charged-burst kills, and several creators have shown that ceiling. The problem is the long charge, large material investment, spread at distance, and reliance on setup. One broad all-weapons test recommends Jupiter and Equalizer ahead of it and treats Aphelion as a fun later project rather than an efficient first commitment.

Finally, do not amplify a weapon simply because the fifth tier exists. Repairs consume Amplified Fragments, and every permanent branch should answer a question you already have: faster heavy ARC kills, cleaner armor breaks, a slug shotgun, a midrange automatic, or a premium PvE rifle. If the path does not have a job, keep the materials.

For most players, Anvil X Rounds is the safest first permanent choice. Hullcracker Incendiary Grenades is the strongest dedicated PvE recommendation, while Il Toro Slugs and Canto Carbine Conversion serve different PvP styles. Jupiter belongs at the end of the plan, when both the weapon and its repair costs already fit your routine.
