MW4 DMZ early access starts October 20 for eligible digital preorders and prepurchases. Standard Digital qualifies alongside Vault Edition, so you do not need the upgrade to play DMZ early.

Activision confirmed the date in its October 9 Forward Operating Base guide. The announcement gives access to all of DMZ, not just a preview mission. It does not provide exact regional unlock hours.

Three dates, three different starts

Campaign early access begins October 16. DMZ follows on October 20, three days before MW4's full October 23 launch. Do not book a DMZ session for the Campaign's earlier date.

The eligibility list names Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2. Both Standard Digital and Vault digital purchases are included.

Check digital eligibility before upgrading

The stated benefit covers digital preorders or prepurchases. It does not establish the same head start for physical-copy buyers. Check the purchase type rather than assuming every copy qualifies.

If early DMZ access is your only reason to buy Vault, Standard already includes it. Vault's other benefits are a separate buying decision.

Activision warns that availability and start dates can change, with outages and time-zone differences affecting actual play time. October 20 is the announced start date, not a verified midnight unlock in every region.

Keep the date if you already qualify. If you are still deciding whether MW4 is worth buying, three extra days do not tell you how well DMZ plays or how its servers hold up.
