Control Resonant 1.4.2 Restores an Artifact, but New Game+ Limits Recovery
Hotfix 1.4.2 fixes Zoe, the Gap and a missing Artifact reward. Players seeking a retroactive payout need to check the New Game+ cutoff.
Control Resonant Hotfix 1.4.2 fixes several quest blockers and a side quest that failed to award its Artifact. The October 8 update is worth installing if Zoe vanished, you got stuck in the Gap, or Every Dog Has Her Day ended without its reward.
Remedy says these problems came from Game Update 1.4.0. This hotfix addresses specific progression failures, NPC behavior and a damage bug. The reward fix has a condition worth checking before you start another run.
The missing Artifact has a New Game+ cutoff
Completing Notes: Every Dog Has Her Day should now award the intended Artifact. Remedy also added a method to give that reward to players who already finished the quest without receiving it.
That retroactive recovery only applies if you have not entered New Game+. If you completed the quest and are still in the same run, your save meets the condition listed in the notes. Players who have already moved into New Game+ are excluded from the stated recovery method.
The announcement does not explain the steps for retrieving the missing reward. Check your save after updating, but do not assume you need to repeat the entire quest or follow an unofficial workaround based on these notes alone.

Zoe, the Gap and Busken get progression fixes
The House in Distress could stop progressing because Zoe went missing. Hotfix 1.4.2 lists that problem as fixed, making it a reason to revisit the quest after installing the update.
The Gap fix is more specific. Players could become unable to leave after defeating the Artist Resonant, leaving the Ability selection prompt unused, then exiting to the main menu immediately afterward. The hotfix addresses that sequence. It also fixes cases where players could not ask Busken about Underhill despite getting far enough into the quest.
A Firebreaker who stood idle during a protection objective also gets a fix, alongside Rangers who did not always reset their positions correctly during Escort tasks.
For combat, Remedy corrects excessive Burn damage to Dylan when the Wallet Artifact is equipped and Power runs out. Subtitle timing and other localization problems are fixed across all languages.
Update before retrying the affected objectives. If you are checking a missing Artifact, pay attention to the New Game+ condition first. The patch notes identify these fixes; they do not promise that every stalled quest or save issue is resolved.
