DayZ Badlands Launches at $22.49, but Update 1.30 Means a Fresh Start
DayZ Badlands is out with a $22.49 US Steam launch offer. Update 1.30 brings a full wipe, while the next stable follow-up remains undated.
DayZ Badlands is out, and Steam lists the expansion at $22.49 USD during its launch offer. Bohemia Interactive's October 15 announcement also confirms a full wipe across platforms with Update 1.30. Buying the desert map and installing the base-game update are separate decisions.
The launch offer requires the base game
The introductory discount is 10% off the regular $24.99 USD price. Steam lists October 29 as the end of the offer. Bohemia describes the discounted amount as approximately $22.50 in its announcement; the US storefront shows $22.49. Check your regional listing before paying.
Badlands is DLC, not a standalone edition of DayZ. You need the base game to play. Steam also lists a Hot & Cool bundle containing Badlands and Frostline; compare your account's bundle price rather than assuming one price applies to every owner.
The paid expansion adds Nasdara, a 267-square-kilometer desert terrain. Sandstorms, scarce water, heatstroke and silicosis change the survival conditions. Our Badlands opening-route guide covers the practical preparation without repeating it here.

Update 1.30 also changes the base game
Bohemia says the accompanying base-game update includes motorbikes, selected firearms, assets with reworked skins and quality-of-life changes. Those additions are separate from access to Nasdara. You do not need to buy a new terrain simply to receive the base-game update.
The launch announcement says Update 1.30 brings a full wipe across all platforms. Returning players should read the applicable reset notice before planning around an existing character or base. If you use a community server, check its operator's own reset instructions rather than assuming every private server follows one schedule.
The next Experimental patch is not a stable release date
Bohemia is targeting October 16 for the first 1.30 follow-up on Steam Experimental, focused on issues affecting modders. The studio says the stable patch on all platforms will follow later, without giving a date in this announcement.
That is a target for a test branch, not confirmation that stable servers already have those fixes. Before arranging a modded session, check your server's current notices and compatibility requirements. For the expansion itself, open DayZ Badlands on Steam and confirm the price and base-game requirement for your account.
