Diablo IV's upcoming 3.2.3 patch targets a seasonal quest bug that can block Prime Evil Powers, but it will not reset progress for characters already affected. That limitation matters more than the usual promise of bug fixes: waiting for the update is not Blizzard's stated recovery route for a character already stuck.

The notes list build 73883 for all platforms on October 14, 2026. That date is still ahead of this report. Blizzard has not supplied a release hour in the reviewed notes, so these are announced changes rather than confirmation that the patch is live.

The fix prevents a lockout, not a quest reset

The bug lets a character use a Splinter of a Prime Evil before finishing the seasonal questline. That can prevent the character from completing the story and accessing Prime Evil Powers. Patch 3.2.3 is intended to stop that sequence from happening again.

For an already-affected character, Blizzard's instruction is to create another character in the same partition and complete the seasonal questline there. Doing that unlocks Prime Evil Powers for all characters within that partition.

Match both mode boundaries: Normal or Hardcore, and standard or Solo Self-Found. Finishing the quest on a standard Normal character is not the recovery path described for an SSF Hardcore character. This unlocks the powers; it is not a promise to restore the original character's quest progress.

Four affixes regain Horadric Cube rerolls

Blizzard also lists a repair for affixes that could not be rerolled through the Horadric Cube: Impairment Reduction, Barrier Generation, +Healing and Critical Strike Damage.

For gear planning, this is a fix to a blocked crafting action. The notes do not announce higher values for those stats or a new damage multiplier. If one of these affixes has been preventing your intended reroll, check that specific action after the update arrives.

Baal loot and two boss encounters get repairs

Tyrael's spawn position after defeating Baal can make the boss's loot difficult to pick up. The patch addresses that placement issue; it does not announce more loot from Baal.

In the Horadric Library, the Sandstone Golem can fail to respawn after a player dies during its fight. In the Forgotten Tower, the Countess can cross the fog wall and block encounter progression. Both problems are on the fix list.

Necromancer quest drops are also on the list

The update corrects an issue with monsters failing to drop Unbroken Bones during the Necromancer class mechanic quest Call of the Underworld. Blizzard also lists stability, performance, visual and UI improvements without giving a detailed breakdown of those changes.

The practical priority is the seasonal quest warning. If your character is already affected by premature Splinter use, follow the same-partition completion guidance rather than expecting 3.2.3 to repair that character's progress automatically. Everyone else should treat October 14 as the announced patch date and confirm the new version after rollout.
