Dune: Awakening hotfix 1.5.3.3 fixes a cause of progression loss and a character-menu error that could lead players to delete the wrong character, according to Funcom's September 22 patch notes. The announcement does not say that progress already lost will be restored.

The character problem followed a failed server join. The Characters tab could show incorrect character data, leaving players at risk of joining or deleting a different character from the one they intended. Check the selected character's identity before deleting anything, even after updating.

Base reconstruction and journey progress

Funcom also fixes the Base Reconstruction Tool leaving pieces in incorrect positions. A separate repair addresses the “Place your backed up base” journey step failing to complete after the base was placed. Update before retrying either affected action.

Entering an Overland map, reconnecting or respawning could incorrectly refill HP and reset Power to zero. The hotfix corrects that behavior. The Awakening cinematic during Forty Fears also gains a fallback: if quick-time inputs fail to register, the sequence automatically completes after ten seconds.

On PS5, the patch removes a leftover Balanced graphics option from the settings. The mode had already been replaced by Quality; this change removes the stale menu entry. The notes also list a console ping-display correction and general client and server stability improvements, without measured performance figures.

The hotfix requires a client download. Funcom recommends restarting Steam if it does not appear automatically. Its announcement said servers would return shortly, but supplied no exact return time or separate deployment schedule for each platform. Install the available update before testing the affected base or story action again.
