Dying Light The Beast Week 1 Pits Slashing Against Blunt Weapons
The anniversary event's first week sets a 50-million-kill community goal and lets weapon kills decide the weekend's bonus and penalty.
Your weapon kills will decide Dying Light: The Beast's first anniversary-event weekend rules. Techland's September 21 Week 1 announcement pairs a shared target of 50 million enemy kills with a vote between slashing and blunt weapons.
According to the event FAQ, each kill with one of those weapon types counts as a vote. The winning option applies both its bonus and its penalty:
- Slashing: more frequent dismemberment, with more firearm-wielding enemies to face.
- Blunt: a higher chance of knocking enemies into ragdoll, with increased fall damage for players.

Voting closes before rewards unlock
Weapon voting runs until Friday at 2 PM CEST. The selected modifiers then stay active until Monday at 2 PM CEST. Your own weapon preference does not guarantee the result; the community's kill totals decide it.
The 50-million-kill objective is a separate community total across Castor Woods. Solo and co-op kills count, and Techland says even a small contribution makes a player eligible for the reward if the global target is reached. The Week 1 reward is the Castor Keychain.
Claiming it requires an active Dying Light Outpost account linked to your game. Successful global-goal rewards open the following Monday at 2 PM CEST, even if the community finishes early. There is no extra event charge for owners of The Beast.
