How to Unlock and Use Airborne Architect in Enshrouded 1.0
Airborne Architect costs three skill points and enables free-flying build mode inside a Flame Altar's protected area. Here is the shortest unlock path, the PC controls, and what to check when Fly Mode does nothing.
Airborne Architect is a neutral skill in the center of the Enshrouded skill tree. The skill itself costs three skill points. Once unlocked, it lets you enter a free-flying first-person camera while building inside a Flame Altar's protected area.
On PC, hold Z + Space while building inside your base to enter or leave Fly Mode. If that input does nothing, the usual problem is simple: Airborne Architect is still locked, especially on an existing save whose skill tree was reset by the 1.0 update.
Unlock Airborne Architect in the center ring
Press H on PC to open the Skills screen, then look at the neutral ring in the middle of the tree. Airborne Architect sits beside Double Jump and can be reached from several nearby neutral skills.
Airborne Architect costs three skill points. If you are starting from the free Spark node and have not bought anything in that part of the ring, the shortest obvious route is Double Jump for two points followed by Airborne Architect for three. That route costs five points in total.
You do not have to build toward a combat class to reach it. Other nearby connections include Felling Axe Specialization, Pickaxe Specialization, Miner, and Inner Fires. Use whichever connection already fits your character instead of spending extra points only to circle back through Double Jump.
Returning players should open the tree even if they remember buying every skill they wanted. Enshrouded 1.0 reset existing skill trees, so old saves may have the points available while Airborne Architect remains locked.
Enter Fly Mode inside a Flame Altar base
Go to a base claimed by a Flame Altar and stand inside its protected building area. Equip the Construction Hammer or select a block or prop so the building controls appear. On PC, hold Z + Space to turn into a spark and enter the free-flying building camera.
Use your normal movement controls to move the camera, and use the build preview to place or remove pieces from angles your character cannot reach on foot. Space raises the camera. Hold Z + Space again to exit Fly Mode and return the view to your character's position.
This is a building camera, not character flight. Your character stays where you entered the mode, and you cannot use Airborne Architect to cross the open world, skip combat, or explore outside a claimed base.
Check the Flame Altar boundary when the control does nothing
Airborne Architect only works within the building area protected by a Flame Altar. Walk outside that boundary and the Fly Mode option disappears, even though the skill is unlocked.
Move closer to the altar, select a building item, and check the control panel at the bottom-right of the screen. Inside a valid area on PC, it should show the Fly Mode input. If the prompt is missing, confirm that the altar claims the spot where you are standing and that you are actively in building mode.
The altar restriction is the other common trap. Unlocking the skill does not create a general creative-flight toggle. It gives you a better camera for construction inside a base.
Fix Fly Mode before changing keybinds
Run the checks in this order. Open the Skills screen and confirm Airborne Architect says Unlocked. Make sure you are inside a Flame Altar's protected building area. Equip the Construction Hammer or select a building piece. Look for the Fly Mode prompt in the building controls, then use the current binding shown by the game.
On PC, the default input is Z + Space. Controller prompts can vary by platform and control setup, so use the on-screen Fly Mode prompt rather than assuming a button combination. Enshrouded lets you inspect and change bindings from the Settings menu if the displayed input conflicts with a custom layout.
If all five checks pass and the prompt still fails, leave building mode, reopen it inside the altar boundary, and test again before resetting controls. The feature should not require a separate quest, item, Flame level, or server setting once the skill is unlocked.
