Forza Horizon 6 launches on PS5 on January 26, 2027. Premium Edition owners can start January 21, and Standard or Deluxe owners can get that earlier access through the separately sold Premium Upgrade. The upgrade still requires the base game.

Playground Games announced those dates on October 8. Its first Premium Expansion is also scheduled for January 21 across platforms, while a separate free content update is planned around the PS5 and expansion launch.

Your save carries over, not your purchases

The official FAQ confirms cross-save with Xbox and Steam when you use the same Microsoft account. That means existing progress can follow you to PS5, but an existing copy does not become a free PlayStation license.

The PS5 version is sold separately. Paid DLC, including car packs and expansions, must also be purchased on each platform where you want to access it. Check that cost before deciding to move platforms; synchronized progress is not synchronized ownership.

Pick the edition for its contents

Standard and Deluxe share the January 26 start. Deluxe includes the Welcome Pack and Car Pass, but does not include the earlier start by itself.

The first expansion is included with Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and the Expansions Bundle. Playground has confirmed its date, not its setting or detailed feature list. The free update is a separate release, not a promise that the paid expansion is free.

Microsoft-account linking is required on PS5. PlayStation Plus is required for online multiplayer, while solo play and offline features do not need a subscription.

The port also supports cross-play and shared community creations. Playground lists a 4K 30fps Quality mode and a 60fps Performance mode; the official PS5 trailer was captured in Quality mode on a base PS5. These are announced options, not Game Pelt benchmark results.

Check the PlayStation Store edition before paying, or the Steam page if you plan to stay on PC. Our Horizon Meets coverage explains the current update already available to existing players. If the expansion is your main reason to buy Premium, wait for its content reveal rather than buying from a date alone.
