Gears of War: E-Day has gone gold, and the useful part of the announcement is the schedule. Preloads begin September 29 at 8am Pacific on Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox PC app and Steam. Premium Edition early access starts October 1, while the worldwide launch follows on October 6.

Going gold means the launch build is ready for manufacturing and distribution. It does not mean patches are finished, but it removes one common source of last-minute uncertainty less than three weeks before release.

The preload and release schedule

  • September 29 at 8am PT: pre-install opens.
  • October 1 at 8am PT: Premium Edition early access begins.
  • October 6 at 8am PT: worldwide launch and Game Pass access begin.

Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members get the standard October 6 release. The five-day head start is tied to the Premium Edition rather than the subscription.

The Coalition also published the final launch requirements after using the July multiplayer beta to improve stability and performance across more hardware. PC players should check the chart before the September 29 preload instead of assuming beta performance represents the finished build.

What players should do

Standard-edition and Game Pass players only need to note September 29 and October 6. The Premium upgrade is paying for earlier access, not exclusive campaign content, so it only makes sense for players who value those five days enough to spend more.
