If you built your first Planet Crafter base beside the pod in the original Starting Valley, treat it as temporary. The basin fills during the Lakes stage. Move the occupied rooms and important supplies to higher ground before the water reaches your entrance. You do not need to dismantle everything at once.

Pick the second site before removing the first Walk out of the dry lakebed and look for reasonably flat ground beyond the basin, with a route back to the resources you use most. A platform built only a little above the pod may still put the door, storage or walkway in the future lake. Check the surrounding slope and leave a landward entrance. Base-location videos disagree on the single best spot because some favor central access and others favor room to build; neither consideration overrides staying above the water.

Place a small living compartment and door at the new site. Bring oxygen and water first so it works as a shelter before you start carrying full inventories. Keep the old room intact for now. Having a safe stop at both ends makes the transfer manageable even if the lake has already started forming.

Move what keeps the base running Set up storage and crafting at the new site, then carry your scarce resources and the equipment needed for food, water and continued production. Move common minerals and decorative pieces later. Sort the new containers as you go so essential materials do not disappear into a mixed pile.

Once the new shelter supports a normal resource trip, dismantle the low base in sections and reclaim its materials. Do a final check for rare items, usable machines and anything stored in the old rooms before removing your last safe stop. You can leave a secondary lakeside outpost or build occupied rooms above the finished lake, but make sure the entrance and route back to dry ground remain usable.

This advice is for the default planet's Starting Valley. DLC maps and alternate starting areas have different terrain. Avoid copying a height or coordinate from another map without checking the actual shoreline and access in your own save.
