WoW Forever Updates: New Racial Bonuses and a Free Stress Test
WoW Forever opens a free public stress test October 19. Check regional times, the progress wipe and new Human, Orc and Dwarf racial bonuses.
WoW Forever's October 19 public stress test needs no subscription, game time, invitation or beta access. It is a chance to try the game before launch, with an important character-planning change already in the beta: Humans, Orcs and Dwarves are losing their weapon-specific racial bonuses in favor of broader critical bonuses.
Blizzard announced the test on October 15. The racial replacements come from that week's beta development notes, posted October 15 Pacific time and subsequently revised. Treat them as current beta rules, not a final launch ranking.
Join the right regional test window
North America starts October 19 at 2 p.m. PDT / 5 p.m. EDT. Europe's separate start is 7 p.m. CEST / 6 p.m. BST that day. Korea starts October 20 at 6 a.m. KST; Taiwan at 5 a.m. CST. Do not convert the European start as though it were the North American opening.
In Battle.net, select World of Warcraft, then choose World of Warcraft: Forever Stress Test under In Development in the Game Version menu. Install that entry. Blizzard has not committed to a fixed ending hour.
Read the official stress-test announcement before joining. Characters, names and guilds created on those test servers will be wiped afterward. This is not a name reservation or permanent leveling opportunity.
The weapon racials being replaced
Racials are bonuses or abilities attached to your character's race. These changes do not add new playable races. They replace three existing weapon-specific bonuses:
Human: Ruthless replaces Sword Specialization and grants 2% critical strike chance. In plain English, it makes critical hits more likely. You no longer need to equip a sword to receive this racial's bonus.
Orc: Savage replaces Axe Specialization and grants 1% critical strike chance. It also makes critical hits more likely, but gives a smaller critical-chance bonus than Human Ruthless. An axe is no longer required for this racial.
Dwarf: Earth Fury replaces Mace Specialization and grants 2% increased critical damage and healing. It makes critical hits and critical heals stronger rather than making them happen more often. A mace is no longer required for this racial.
The difference is frequency versus strength: Humans and Orcs gain a better chance to crit; Dwarves gain more benefit when a crit happens. None of those percentages means the character simply deals that much more total damage. Your class, abilities and the rest of the racial kit still matter, so this comparison is not a best-race ranking.

Orc cooldowns and defenses also change
Blood Fury's cooldown increases from two minutes to three, so you must wait longer before using it again. Shatter Curse now dispels Curses and Banes: it removes those effects instead of granting immunity against them. Its magic-damage reduction also drops from 15% to 5%, meaning it prevents less incoming magic damage than before. Check the updated beta notes instead of assuming the new passive crit bonus is the entire Orc change.
Our earlier Hunter race ranking reflects an older beta snapshot. Its sword-dependent Human advice needs to be read against these replacements, not treated as settled launch guidance. Game Pelt has not independently measured a new race ranking from this build.
Use the free test to try the class and controls you actually want. Keep the temporary character separate from launch plans, then check subsequent tuning before making a permanent race choice. The new access window is useful; the old weapon condition is not a reason to lock yourself into a race.
