Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is now playable in early access for Deluxe Edition owners. The access period is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, ahead of the worldwide launch on October 2, 2026.

The standard edition does not include this early entry. Players buying that version will need to wait for the full release.

What launches this week

Bandai Namco describes Wings of Theve as the series' largest online multiplayer game. It supports cross-play and uses an Air Base hub where pilots can customise a mercenary character before joining cooperative or competitive modes.

The campaign returns to Ace Combat's fictional world. The Federation of Central Usea has fallen under occupation by the Republic of Sotoa, leaving the Wings of Theve squadron to fight for the FCU and influence its future through battlefield decisions.

Unreal Engine 5 powers the environments, while Bandai Namco Aces' own technology handles the flight experience. The aircraft roster is built around real-world fighters, and the campaign includes first-person cinematic sequences.

The important dates

Early access opened on September 29 for eligible Deluxe Edition owners. The complete worldwide release follows on October 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.

Bandai Namco has not announced a separate early-access window for standard-edition buyers. Anyone deciding between versions this close to release is paying for a short head start rather than exclusive access to the core game.
