Marathon Adds Team Deathmatch and Bishop to Its December Plans
Marathon’s Symbiosis update will test Team Deathmatch and add Bishop in December. A larger March 2027 update targets connected modes and deeper progression.
Marathon’s December Symbiosis update will introduce an experimental Team Deathmatch mode. Bungie’s September 24 roadmap describes it as a more direct, lower-commitment way to compete without risking a full run.
The new Bishop shell is also planned for December, built around speed, surprise and bursts of melee damage. A CyAc-sponsored social space will include a firing range for trying weapons and abilities.
Perimeter receives a fungal visual overhaul, new routes and points of interest, plus a pinnacle encounter with the Tick Queen, which Bungie calls its largest combatant yet.

March 2027 targets connected modes and deeper progression
The larger March update is intended to connect permanent PvE, PvP and PvEvP experiences. Bungie also lists a reworked Cradle, deeper shell progression, new onboarding, more focused quests, new alien enemies and another zone.
These details extend the previously announced PvE plans. They do not settle Team Deathmatch’s team sizes, scoring rules or rewards, and no exact March date is given.
If full-run stakes have discouraged you from competitive play, watch the detailed Deathmatch reveal. The current announcement establishes the experiment, not its finished rules.
