Ranked will be unavailable during Marathon's Nightfall Refresh, scheduled for October 6 through December 7. Owners will also receive the NuCaloric Reward Pass free, with no deadline to complete it.

Game director Del Chafe III confirmed both details in a September 16 follow-up. Planned changes to Ranked will not be ready for October, and Bungie has not announced when the mode will return.

Returning modes have separate weekly windows

  • Sponsored Queues run Thursday through Monday and require Sponsored Kits. Their maps rotate from Perimeter to Marsh to Night Marsh over three weeks, then repeat. Regular Extraction remains available in each zone.
  • Vault Breaker returns during weeks three through five of the refresh.
  • Sponsored Survival starts in week six, offering sponsored-kit PvE with Rooks. Its weekly map rotation covers Perimeter, Day Marsh, Night Marsh and Outpost.
  • Cryo Archive runs weekly from Thursday, October 15. Each window lasts 24 hours longer and includes all of Sunday.

Bungie says the schedule may change in response to issues with the game. The pass can be completed after this calendar ends; players returning specifically for Ranked still need a confirmed date for that mode's return.
