Monster Hunter Wilds will make hunter appearance edits free and unlimited with Version 2 in 2027, when Ascendance launches. The change also applies to the base game, so buying the expansion is not required for this improvement.

Capcom's character-edit notice describes two stages. Unlimited editing is not live yet.

December 3, 2026: free vouchers and buyer gifts

Distribution of the existing voucher products will end across platforms. Installing the December 3 update will automatically add ten Character Edit Vouchers and ten Palico Edit Vouchers to your balance. Owned vouchers remain usable until Ascendance launches.

The same update grants Heavenly Hog and Beelzeboar pendants to previous buyers of the listed paid three-voucher packs: hunter, Palico or the combined pack. Capcom may make these pendants available separately later. The notice announces these cosmetics without offering a cash-refund program.

Version 2 in 2027: unlimited hunter edits

The later update removes the voucher requirement for hunter appearance changes. Capcom has not given its exact release date. December's free allowance and Version 2's unlimited system are separate steps.

Some appearance changes already cost no voucher. The official Steam product page lists hair, eyebrows, facial hair, makeup and clothing as editable through the tent's Appearance Menu. Check those options first. If a fuller redesign can wait, there is no need to buy extra vouchers in advance of the announced free allowance.
