Once Human: Nimble Fix Targets October 21, Whistle Shortcuts November 4
Beastmaster changes are scheduled across three updates. Here is what the whistle does now, when Nimble is due for a fix, and which controls arrive later.
Once Human is targeting October 21 for a Nimble trait fix, with quicker Beast Whistle commands planned for November 4. The September 23 developer notice also puts multi-animal commands and an animal-weight display correction in the September 28 update. All dates in that announcement use Pacific Time.
Summon with the animal item first
If your Beast Whistle no longer summons an animal, use the animal item you are carrying. The whistle gives orders after the animal has been summoned. This was an intentional change in the September 16 update, which also removed the need to bind a whistle to one specific animal.
The three old whistle types were combined into one Beast Whistle. Red Beast Whistles were renamed and retained; use either of the other two legacy types to convert it to the unified version.
September 28: group commands and correct weight details
The developer plans to let a single whistle command multiple animals simultaneously and improve how summoned animals respond to orders.
That update is also scheduled to correct the load shown in animal item details. The team says the weight-reduction effect already works: its example is a Bear with an actual load of 10.5 that still displays 35. The announced fix changes the readout, rather than reducing the animal's weight again.
October 21: Nimble is still awaiting a fix
The developer says testing confirmed that Nimble's effect is not working as intended. It expects to repair the trait on October 21, citing difficulty identifying and fixing the cause. The notice supplies no revised trait values.
November 4: command animals with the tag button
The planned shortcut lets Beastmasters issue orders through the tag control while carrying a Beast Whistle. The listed default inputs are:
- PC: middle mouse button.
- Mobile: Tag button.
- Controller: double-tap Up on the D-pad.
For now, summon through the animal item and issue commands with the whistle. The new shortcuts are scheduled for November; the notice gives no exact release hours. Check the relevant update notes before relying on a planned repair.
