Planet Zoo 2's digital launch is October 13, 2026, at 3 PM BST. Frontier has also confirmed Steam preload for players who pre-purchased, with a planned start of 3 PM BST on October 12. That gives Steam buyers a chance to download ahead of launch, although the preload time remains a target.

For players planning their first session, the date depends on where they live. The same launch falls early Wednesday morning in Sydney and Melbourne.

When Planet Zoo 2 Unlocks in Your Region

Frontier's announced launch time converts to:

  • US Pacific: Tuesday, October 13, at 7 AM PDT.
  • US Eastern: Tuesday, October 13, at 10 AM EDT.
  • UK: Tuesday, October 13, at 3 PM BST.
  • Central Europe: Tuesday, October 13, at 4 PM CEST.
  • Sydney and Melbourne: Wednesday, October 14, at 1 AM AEDT.
  • UTC: Tuesday, October 13, at 14:00.

These are conversions of the same launch time. Australia's Wednesday date does not mean a separate regional delay.

Buying a disc instead? Frontier's release-time map lists the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S physical editions for October 20. The October 13 schedule is for the digital launch.

Steam Preload Is Planned for One Day Earlier

Frontier is aiming to open Steam preload on Monday, October 12, at 3 PM BST for pre-purchasers. That is 7 AM PDT, 10 AM EDT, and 4 PM CEST on October 12, or 1 AM AEDT on October 13 in Sydney and Melbourne.

The distinction matters: October 12 is the planned download window, while October 13 is the confirmed game launch. Preloading does not grant early access, and Frontier's wording leaves room for the preload start to change.

Before that window, check the Steam library entry on the account that bought the game and make room on the drive you intend to use. When the window arrives, look for the preload option. If it has not appeared, check for a fresh official update before assuming something is wrong with your purchase.

The announcement does not give a download size or confirm preload timing for PlayStation, Xbox, or Epic. Steam buyers with slower connections have a useful preparation window to watch; players on other platforms should check their own store's installation options.

For now, plan your first session around the launch time and treat Monday's Steam preload as the target to check. It may save download time on release day, but it does not move the unlock forward.
