Professional Ship Simulator Beta Saves Each Vessel’s Fuel and Condition
The Steam beta saves fuel, hull and names separately for career vessels, with a temporary 5% minimum. Mission rewards now depend on distance.
Professional Ship Simulator’s Update 1 public beta saves each career vessel’s fuel level, hull condition and custom name individually. A temporary minimum of 5% fuel and 5% hull keeps vessels usable while the developer works on a fuller mechanic.
The Update 1 beta announcement also ties XP and Credit rewards to mission distance for ferry, pilot, inspection, repair and tourist jobs. Career Credit payouts have been rebalanced, but the notes do not give new amounts.
Two specific progression fixes are included: Merchant missions should recognize a load containing exactly the required number of containers, and Ship Handling 1 should no longer stall when you perform an action before its tutorial step. Docking and autopilot panels should also appear correctly when starting on foot.

How to try Update 1 on Steam
Right-click Professional Ship Simulator in your Steam Library, open Properties, choose Betas and select “Open - Beta.” Steam will download the test build. These changes are not announced for the default Early Access branch yet, and no date is given for that rollout.
The beta reduces rudder effectiveness when going astern on shaft-propelled vessels. It also adds propulsion and crash-stop parameters that are explicitly not configured yet. Treat those unfinished parameters separately from the handling changes already listed as active.
