SPRAWL Zero Review: Fast Combat, Weak Story
SPRAWL zero is a short, aggressive shooter with excellent improvised combat and clear PS2-era influence. Its story and uneven encounters hold it back.
SPRAWL zero is a good, short first-person shooter. Its Gravity Gloves turn loose weapons, grenades and environmental objects into practical combat tools, while the campaign avoids unnecessary padding. The weak story and uneven encounter design keep it below the best games it resembles.
Combat Rewards Improvisation
Five can carry one firearm at a time, so combat is built around replacement rather than attachment. Empty a weapon, throw it, pull another into reach and keep moving. The Gravity Gloves make that sequence fast enough to become the game's main strength.

Weapons Feel Distinct
Pistols, shotguns, rifles and heavier tools have clear uses. Enemy pressure encourages quick changes instead of allowing one reliable gun to solve every room. When the level provides enough objects and readable space, the system works extremely well.
Some Encounters Lose Clarity
The same speed can expose weak layouts. Visual noise, unclear threats and uneven enemy placement occasionally turn an improvisational fight into damage from outside the player's attention. The result is frustrating because the core controls are otherwise precise.

The Campaign Knows When To End
Nine levels make SPRAWL zero compact. Routes can often be pushed quickly, while New Game+ provides optional challenges for another run. The campaign introduces enough weapons and situations without stretching a small set of ideas across twenty hours.
The Story Is Background Material
Five's assault on the Imago-Dei provides a reason to move through the city, but the writing does not carry the game. Players looking for the narrative force of F.E.A.R. or Half-Life 2 will not find an equivalent here.
Verdict
Buy SPRAWL zero if improvised FPS combat matters more than story. It is focused, mechanically confident and easy to replay. Expect several rough encounters and a plot that never matches the quality of the shooting.
