Palworld Progression
Build a working first base, keep your Pals fed, start making ingots and prepare your first breeding project. Follow the opening technology milestones with construction costs, job requirements and checks for a stalled base.
Technology 2 to 4Establish your first base
Place the Palbox, deploy workers and provide beds and a stocked Feed Box.Click to collapse
Choose room for the workers, not just the building
- Start with a Primitive Workbench and capture Pals. Unlock the Palbox at technology level 2 and place it where workers have an unobstructed approach.
- Open the Palbox and deploy workers into the base slots. Keeping a Pal in your traveling party or storage is not the same as assigning it to the base.
- Build a Straw Pal Bed for each deployed worker. Add the Feed Box once technology level 4 is available and put food inside it.
- Interact with the Palbox to check Base Missions. Complete the requirements shown in your world before requesting the next base upgrade.
What should work before you move on?
Workers can reach a ready job, food is available and each deployed Pal has a bed. Player technology level and Palbox base level are separate: leveling your character does not automatically complete Base Missions.
A Pal is still standing at the box
Check that it is deployed as a worker and has the job's required suitability. Clear the path from the Palbox to the station, then try one suitable Pal on one task with materials ready. More workers do not solve a blocked doorway.

Technology 5 to 9Keep food and rest running
Connect planting, watering, harvesting and hauling; give workers somewhere to recover SAN.Click to collapse
Make food reach the Feed Box
- Unlock the Berry Plantation at technology level 5. Supply the seeds and construction materials, then assign workers with Planting, Watering and Gathering.
- Use Lifmunk or Tanzee for planting and gathering, and Pengullet for watering. These are role-coverage examples, not an endgame speed ranking.
- Make sure a worker with Transporting can move the harvest to accessible storage. A crop on the ground is not a stocked Feed Box.
- Build beds and a Hot Spring as they become available. Check food, SAN and the Pal's status instead of increasing work demands when the base is already struggling.
Ranching is a different job
The Ranch uses Farming and a Pal's relevant Partner Skill. Chikipi can lay Eggs there; it does not plant or water the Berry Plantation. Lamball supplies Wool, while Mozzarina and Beegarde become useful for Milk and Honey when you obtain them.
The right Pal keeps choosing the wrong task
The Monitoring Stand lets you allow or prohibit individual work types. Reduce competing jobs for the worker you need on a particular task. A suitability icon shows what a Pal can do, not a promise that it will spend the whole day doing it.

Technology 10 to 17Open the ingot and cooking chain
Use Kindling for the furnace, then prepare Wheat, Flour and the Cooking Pot.Click to collapse
Separate gathering from processing
- Unlock the Primitive Furnace at technology level 10. Gather Ore, queue Ingot production and provide a Kindling worker such as Foxparks.
- The recorded recipe is 2 Ore for 1 Ingot. Mining gets the raw resource; it does not operate the furnace. Keep a fire worker available for smelting.
- At technology level 15, prepare the Wheat Plantation and Mill. Planting, Watering and Gathering grow the Wheat; the Mill needs Watering to process it.
- Make Flour at the Mill: the current reference uses 3 Wheat for 1 Flour. Wooden Boards are another prerequisite for the Mill and Cooking Pot; their recipe uses Wood, Fiber and a Nail.
- Unlock the Cooking Pot at technology level 17. Build it and provide Kindling before planning a steady Cake supply.
Production stopped despite plenty of Ore
Check the queued recipe, available inputs, worker suitability and access to the station. If the fire worker is cooking elsewhere, it cannot keep this furnace running at the same time. Add or reassign a suitable worker rather than mining a larger stockpile.

Technology 19Prepare a first breeding project
Build the farm, check the exact parents and provide Cake before waiting for an egg.Click to collapse
Start with a result you actually want
- Choose the target Pal and check a current pairing before building a long breeding chain. Exact variants matter, and older combinations may no longer produce the same normal offspring.
- Unlock the Breeding Farm at technology level 19 and build it inside your base. Prepare an Egg Incubator as well; its current reference lists technology level 10.
- Assign one male and one female Pal to the farm. Put finished Cake in the farm's own chest, not just the Feed Box or a general storage chest.
- Check the farm's status and collect the produced egg. Use the incubator to hatch it, following its displayed requirements and the world's incubation settings.
You do not need perfect passives to begin
First prove that the pair produces the species you want. A correct offspring, inherited passive skills, talents and mutation outcomes are separate checks. Do not spend a large Cake stockpile on an unverified combination.

When a base job stops
Check a ready recipe and its inputs, the required work suitability, enabled jobs and access to the station. Then check food, rest, SAN and health. Test one suitable worker on one task before spending a breeding project on a replacement.
The current references use Palworld 1.0.5. Keep host and client versions compatible. World settings, passive skills and upgrades can change results; the natural work levels here are not a prediction of your Pal's final performance.
Sources and version notes
Construction costs, technology levels and natural suitabilities were checked against PalDB's 1.0.5 game-data references on October 24, 2026. Recommendations and suggested work order are Game Pelt's interpretation, not timed gameplay tests. This is not a full story walkthrough, every-Pal database or automatic offspring calculator.
