Dragonwilds 1.0.0.8 Addresses Disappearing World Saves
Dragonwilds 1.0.0.8 addresses disappearing world saves. Already missing worlds still await 1.0.1, and dedicated servers need a restart.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds patch 1.0.0.8 is live, addressing an issue that caused world saves to disappear under certain conditions. Jagex released the hotfix on October 8 for Xbox, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Jagex Launcher.
If your world was already missing, this patch will not bring it back yet. Jagex says those worlds remain invisible until 1.0.1, planned for the week after the announcement. The developer hopes that update will restore them; recovery is not guaranteed in the current notes.
That matters if you have hours of building and progress tied up in an inaccessible world. A fix aimed at preventing further disappearances is useful, but affected players still need the recovery work to succeed.

Dedicated servers need a restart
If you run a dedicated server, restart it to apply the hotfix. Updating your own game does not replace that server step.
There is also a patch-download problem. Jagex says SteamCMD updates for dedicated servers are being rate limited and is investigating a more permanent fix with Shockbyte. The announcement does not provide a confirmed workaround or say that issue is resolved.
What 1.0.1 is meant to recover
Alongside hoped-for world restoration, Jagex plans to let corrupted characters join worlds again in 1.0.1. Those characters are due to receive items and skill levels as compensation for lost progress. This belongs to the upcoming update, not the hotfix available now.
World restoration and character compensation are different outcomes. Neither should be described as every lost save returning exactly as it was. The next release needs to show what affected players can actually recover.
For now, install 1.0.0.8 and restart a dedicated server you manage. If an old world is still missing, watch for 1.0.1's release notes and recovery instructions before assuming the problem is finished.
