RuneScape: Dragonwilds has laid out its next major stretch of content. The free Luminance update arrives in December 2026, then the Blood Crystal Saga expands the game through 2027 with two story chapters, new skills and official mod support.

This is more than a loose list of ideas. Jagex has named the updates, outlined their major features and given players a clearer picture of where Ashenfall is going next.

Luminance arrives in December

Luminance is a free update and the prelude to the Blood Crystal Saga. Its story asks players to protect Ceridwen and her child from the bounty hunter Morwyn.

The update adds the Lyre, magical Songstones and new Fairy Ring destinations. Players can also expect elf appearance options, weapons, armor, vestiges, Harmonised Crystal Fragments and a Prifddinas inspired building kit.

Prayer is also coming with Luminance. Jagex says players will begin training it by burying bones and scattering ashes, though the deeper mechanics are being saved for a later reveal.

The Blood Crystal Saga runs through 2027

The larger 2027 story is split into Song of Rebellion and Crown of Night. Song of Rebellion introduces Ailddinas, an elven city threatened by the corrupted Nos Clan.

Hunter will be the first of several new skills planned for 2027. Its early description focuses on sneaking, trapping and collecting creatures, including implings, kebbits, grizzly bears and birds.

Crown of Night moves into lands trapped beneath a perpetual eclipse. Jagex has already teased the Light of Seren, Dark Bow and Ivandis Flail as part of that chapter.

Exact release dates for both chapters remain unconfirmed.

Official mods are planned for every platform

Official modding support is planned for the first half of 2027. Jagex says players will get creation tools plus an in game browser and installer on every platform.

Secure Servers and Leaderboards are planned around the same period as Song of Rebellion. The studio also says free updates, side quests, gear, decorations and quality of life work will continue between the larger releases.

Why this roadmap matters

Dragonwilds now has a real post launch direction. December brings a substantial free update, while 2027 adds a two part saga and systems that can change how players build, hunt and share content.

The official RuneScape: Dragonwilds Summit announcement confirms the roadmap, but several details still need firm dates. Mod support and the later story chapters are plans, not features players can use today.
