What's Coming to Sea of Thieves in October 2026?
Plan your October sessions around Reaper Fortress rewards, Outfit Saving, Community Weekend Twitch Drops and Festival of the Damned.
Sea of Thieves has four dates worth putting in the crew chat this October: a Doubloon event, an update for outfits and Custom Seas, Community Weekend, and Festival of the Damned. If you only have time for one, October 23 to 26 offers the broadest mix of login rewards, possible earnings boosts and Twitch Drops.
The October 22 update is scheduled to add Outfit Saving and the original Golden Sands Outpost to Custom Seas. The events around it give crews reasons to return, but bonus treasure and maximum reward multipliers come with conditions. Here is what is confirmed for October 2026.
| Date | Update or event | Main reason to join |
|---|---|---|
| October 16 to 19 | Bilge Rats Weekender | Doubloons and a chance at Reaper Fortress Mega Stashes |
| October 22 | Monthly game update | Outfit Saving and Golden Sands in Custom Seas |
| October 23 to 26 | Community Weekend and Twitch Drops | Login rewards, community boosts and stream cosmetics |
| October 27 to November 3 | Festival of the Damned | Soulflame Mask, skeleton rewards and cosmetic unlocks |
These are the announced dates. Check the official Events Hub for exact opening and closing hours before arranging a session.
October 16 to 19 brings Reaper Fortress Mega Stashes
Bilge Rats Weekender returns with special Smuggler Voyages, Firework Displays and challenges that reward Doubloons. Its returning event is Reaper Fortress Mega Stashes, which gives crews a chance to find a Vault packed with extra treasure after clearing a Reaper Fortress.
Chests of Fortune can appear in those stashes, but neither the stash nor a Chest of Fortune is guaranteed. Do not plan your whole evening around getting lucky.
There is a separate reward worth remembering: completing a Reaper Fortress during the Weekender earns Doubloons even if no Mega Stash appears. The monthly preview does not give the payout or stash odds, so treat the extra Vault treasure as a bonus when deciding whether to make the trip.
October 22 adds Outfit Saving and original Golden Sands
Outfit Saving is due to arrive through the Clothing Chest. You will be able to save your chosen ensemble, try another look, and return to the saved outfit without searching for each piece again. The announcement does not specify how many outfits can be saved.
Golden Sands Outpost is also scheduled to become a Legendary Location in Custom Seas, using its appearance before the siege. That gives custom sessions another place to explore and use for their activities. It is a Custom Seas addition; the announcement does not describe a replacement for Port Merrick in High Seas.
The full October patch notes will determine what else ships. For now, Outfit Saving and Golden Sands are the two announced highlights.

October 23 to 26 combines Community Weekend and Twitch Drops
Logging in during Season 21 Community Weekend grants the Community Weekend Flag and a Voyage of Wild Luck. Those are the simplest rewards to plan for if you cannot commit to a long session.
The Community Emissary Grade returns, with Twitch viewing helping raise the shared grade. At Grade 5, rewards can reach 2.5 times their usual value. That maximum depends on the community reaching the grade, so check the active boost before planning a big selling session.
Pop-Up Plunder and Picture Walls are returning too, including a Picture Wall at Golden Sands in Custom Seas. Posting naughty or nice maps to the Quest Board contributes to two community goals. Completing maps taken from the Board rewards the Pocket Pumpkin Emote.
Twitch Drops run over the same dates. The announced selection is:
- Stalwart Sea Dog Bucket
- Gilded Phoenix Wheel
- Gilded Phoenix Cannons
- Gilded Phoenix Capstan
- Bat Cutout Emote
This campaign includes participating streamers beyond the Sea of Thieves Partner program. Find streams in Twitch's Sea of Thieves category, then check that the channel is participating in the campaign. The monthly preview does not state the viewing time needed for each item.
October 27 to November 3 starts Festival of the Damned
Festival of the Damned provides a Soulflame Mask you keep after the event and access to the Bucket of Confections Emote for the festival's duration. Use the emote to share Ghoulish Confections with other players. Sharing enough unlocks Spiritfire Makeup.
Wear the mask when visiting an active Fort of the Damned and you will encounter Soulflame Skeletons. Each one destroyed awards a Doubloon to everyone on the island. Skeleton kills also work toward the Candlelight of the Damned Lantern as a personal reward, although the monthly announcement does not list the required total.
Keep the temporary emote access separate from the permanent mask when deciding which rewards to chase. The Pirate Emporium Halloween sale follows on October 28 and runs through November 3, with discounts of up to 30% on selected collections.
Choose your October sessions around the rewards
Reserve October 23 to 26 if you want the login rewards and a chance to sail with community boosts. Choose the Weekender or festival for their Doubloon activities, and check the October 22 patch notes before planning anything around the new outfit or Custom Seas features.
