The Parley Pennant is a request, not a shield

The new Parley Pennant lets a crew signal that it wants to talk. That could be useful for alliances, trade, shared events, or simply avoiding a fight that neither ship needs. It does not make a ship invulnerable, and it does not turn an aggressive crew into a reasonable one.

That limitation is the point. Sea of Thieves works because trust is risky. A recognizable signal gives peaceful crews a common language without removing the possibility of betrayal.

A Free Weekend Runs September 17-21

The game is free to play without a subscription from September 17 through September 21. The larger mix of established, returning, and new players should provide an early test of whether crews understand and respect the new signal.

Season 21 also includes new reward sails, seasonal progression, and events. The Parley Pennant is more likely to change ordinary encounters because it gives crews a clear opportunity to communicate before combat begins.

The Pennant Does Not Guarantee Safety

Some crews will use the pennant honestly, others will ignore it, and aggressive players may use it as bait. It is a communication tool rather than a protection system, so players should still approach unfamiliar ships carefully.
